President Trump on Tuesday said protesters who stormed a church in Minnesota should be jailed.
“Just watched footage of the Church Raid in Minnesota by the agitators and insurrectionists. These people are professionals! No person acts the way they act,” the president wrote in a Truth Social post.
“They are highly trained to scream, rant, and rave, like lunatics, in a certain manner, just like they are doing. They are troublemakers who should be thrown in jail, or thrown out of the Country,” he added.
The group stormed into a church in St. Paul, Minn., on Sunday and accused a pastor of ties to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), with former CNN journalist Don Lemon documenting the incident on his phone. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said participants would be investigated by the attorney general’s office, FBI and Department of Homeland Security.
“Look, there are a number of laws, but the FACE Act was passed to stop this exact type of conduct,” Blanche said during a Monday appearance on Fox News.
“You’re not allowed to stop people from worshipping, and you’re not allowed to intimidate or impede them. And so, the individuals that went in there and did that — and you can tell that they had a plan. You can tell they had an agenda. You cannot do that in this country and we’re investigating it and I expect we will move very aggressively and very quickly to find the people that did this,” he added.
Blanche said that Lemon would not be spared as the Department of Justice investigates whether or not his actions were protected under the First Amendment.
The church raid comes after the death of Renee Good, who was shot by an ICE officer while attempting to drive away after being asked to step out of her car by another officer.
The Trump administration accused Good of being a “ domestic terrorist” and of using her car as a “deadly weapon.” Vice President Vance said the agent who shot her would be granted “ absolute immunity,” sparking outrage from local residents and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D), who has faced criticism following the uncovering of multiple state fraud scandals.
On Tuesday, Trump wrote in his post, “The first to go should be Walz, and Fake Sleazebag, Ilhan Omar, who is supposedly worth over $30 Million Dollars, even though she’s never had anything but a Government job. Investigate these Corrupt Politicians, and do it now!”
